Abstract

This brief review of the scientific research activity of scientists from the field of Mineralogy and Petrography at University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM) for more than 40 years (in the period 1961-2007) clearly outlines the orientation towards experimental scientific research that crosses over the boundaries of Earth sciences such as classical geological sciences. The scientific topics of all lecturers of Mineralogy at UCTM: Ivan Borissov, Julia Pavlova, Ivan Ivanov, Dobrinka Stavrakeva and Franz Dipchikov, are in accordance with its specifics and are focused on the needs of the silicate, chemical and metallurgical industries. The research of these specialists laid the foundations of technical mineralogy and petrography in Bulgaria.
