On the psychophysical readiness of students to overcome difficulties in complex situations

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to establish to what level the system physical activity affects the students in building psycho-physical readiness to overcome difficulties in complex situations. The study was carried out on 62 students, 32 of which (the experimental group) were athletes who regularly practice different sports, and the other 30 (control group) are not engaged in any regular sports activity. In order to achieve the objective at study a complex methodology consisting of a literature study, monitoring and testing was implemented. The assessment of the individual indicators of the mental readiness in the two groups was done using three specialized test: 1. Ch. Spilbargar test - measuring situational and personal anxiety; 2. Standard SAM test (Self-esteem, Activity, Mood); 3. Test of willpower. Evaluation of the physical readiness was done by measuring the following indicators: explosive power of the lower limbs with a “Long jump” test, speed-strength endurance of upper limbs with a “Push-ups for 30 seconds” test, speed endurance with a “shuttle run 10x5 m” test and speed-power endurance of abdominal muscles with a “Crunches 30 seconds” test. The results of the study were subjected to variance analysis. The analysis of the results showed that the students who systematically practiced sport had built a better psychophysical readiness to overcome the difficulties in complex situations in the course of their educational and professional activities.
