Using translation in the course of English for specific purposes for chemical technology programs

Abstract

The purpose of foreign language teaching in the academic courses is shifting from learning general English to English for Specific Purposes (ESP). This allows to develop new methodologies for training. Here we present an option to integrate the study of ESP in the courses in chemical technologies and the development of skills for translation. There have been strategies that students apply in the course of their study and the dependencies between the language skills and the learning outcomes in the course.
